Legal Aid Clinic
Objective:
The Legal Aid Committee of the Priti Academy Law College strives to provide free legal assistance to those who cannot afford it and to raise awareness about various legal rights available to the people of India. A large number of projects have been undertaken in the previous academic years regarding the same.
Description:
Legal aid is the provision of assistance to people otherwise unable to afford legal representation and access to the court system. Legal aid is regarded as central in providing access to justice by ensuring equality before the law, the right to counsel and the right to a fair trial. Legal Aid Committee has varied and diverse activities to be undertaken which range from providing pro bono legal opinion to needy people, spreading awareness in Mumbai on various current socio-legal issues, teaching juvenile delinquents and writing bail applications for the prison inmates.
